Twins Reunited After Four Decades

The twin sisters Ashley and Kate were the daughters of a poor woman. When they were very young they were abandoned in an orphanage. Luckily for them they were adopted by two different families.

The twins lived very similar lives. They were both born in New York, and studied accounting at university. And both were adopted in 1968.
It was only at the age of 45 that they discovered each other and just how similar they were: identical twins who had been separated.

It came to light when Kate, who had been living in Paris, had decided to seek her birth mother. She was told that the mother was not interested in meeting her, but was then informed that she had an identical twin, Ashley.

After not knowing her sister for  four decades, with help from social workers she was able to find her within days.

The two women met for the first time two years ago and talked for long hours because they had many questions, and some of them were left unanswered.

Their meeting was magical and full of emotion.

My first Halloween in Montreal!

My first Halloween in Montreal was pretty cool. I had never had that experience because in Brazil we don't celebrate Halloween.
So I was very excited, and really wanted a  costume that was unique and original. So after thinking about it,  I had an idea to dress up as a ghost. It was so funny everybody laughed

It was so nice! I gave candies to children.
So I really liked my Halloween

Embarrassing Pictures

It bothers me when someone takes pictures of me without my permission.
Last week, I was sleeping when my friend came at home. He took a picture of me sleeping and posted it on the net. When I saw it, I was very upset and embarrassed that people see me in this condition with my duck pajamas and my hair looking very bad.
I think the least we can do is to respect the privacy of each other even though I know he did this just for fun.

At University, one day

When I was studying  university one day, we went to party at Denis' house. It was a really wonderful, fun day.
I arrived early and played football( soccer), people was dancing and my friend Ramiro cooked pot roast. I  ate very delicious, spicy food.

One moment embarrassed me when my friend jumped to the pool, then all my friend´s jumped in with our clothes on even me, and we were all wet but all enjoyed this day. I miss university and my friends.

Everything happens when I try to study

It  really  bothers me when I try to do my job and other people speak  loudly. When you live in a very small  house , everyone listens  .  I don´t like  it when people  speak  loudly   while  I do my important homework. I can´t stand it when the TV is turned  on and no one is watching it and really   hate it when  the people speak loudly in the phone  .  But what bothers me is that everything happens when I try to study.  I don´t mind it when people speak slowly.

ice skating

If you come for the first time to Montreal, especially in winter time and you want to enjoy yourself and have some fun,  it might be a great idea to do some winter sports. One thing you could do is doing ice skating, and the best place for that is located in Bonaventure metro station. It name is "Atrium le 1000"  and it's open to all public no matter what the season or time of day. Offering a wide range of services including comfortable changing rooms, skate sharpening, equipment rental for a reasonable price for all the day, plus you can find various restaurants to grab a bite to eat, and you can meet lots of people

EXERSICE!

Last friday, I went to the BIODOME with my English class, it was my first time going there.
I was little angry because not all the students came for this activity! we were only 5 students , 2 professors and professor's son.
However, it was fine because all of them were kind and very sociable.
I discovered lot of stuff that I have never seen before like a tropical jungle, the weather was hot and humid there, and I saw many kinds of animals and insects.

After we walked underground to see the big and fantastic AQUARIUM with a hundred kinds of fish!
In the end I enjoyed the lunch time with everybody, I discovered THAI food (padthai) and I really appreciate it!

THANK YOU!

Post: TV Show

This comedy show is called, friends. I watched this program , because it's my favorite comedy show and it has  very good actors, such as Jennifer Aniston or Courtney Cox.
This program is about 6 best friends that live in the same apartment building. They are always making funny things. The main characters are Monica, Rachel, Joe, Chandler, Phoebe and Ross.
This show is worth watching because you can't stop laughing. At least for me, is the kind of show that i watch when I'm feeling down, because it makes me happy. I recommend this program because of the main conflict of the story. And you'll end up falling in love with the characters.

What are my suggestions about visiting montréal

In my English school, one of my camarade in class came from Brazil and on during break we were talking, then he asked me about suggestions to visit Montréal because i told him that i have lived in Montréal since 2007.
Élio said: where can I  and my girl friend go to visit a famous place in Montréal.
i said: Maybe you could go to visit Old Montréal but today be careful because it feels like -20 C!

Élio said: OK! but I want to visit Montreal's Churches first.
I said: One thing you could do is to go at the ORATOIRE ST-JOSEPH in cotes-des-neiges cross Queen-Mary, it's huge and beautiful.
It might be a good idea to get 165's bus to go there!
Élio said: what about visiting Ottawa and Quebec.
i said: on summer time! believe me it's better.
          now it's very quite there!

winter sports

Lots of students who come to Montreal to study English or French are usually from "hot" countries, like Mexico, Colombia or Brazil. So, they suffer a lot with the Canadian cold. But the same cold that sometimes makes them sick, can also give them the chance of getting in touch with the amazing winter sports.

Hockey, ski, snowboarding and skating are examples of a kind of sport that does not exist in Brazil. Trying theses sports is always a nice experience, even if are not very successful...

Yesterday I tried skating. I went to an ice ring at the Atrium Le 1000 with some friends from Brazil and Mexico. It was really nice to see all those people sliding on the ice and I couldn't wait for the chance of trying. But when I put the skates on I realized that it could be harder than I expected. And it really was!!! I have to confess: after 2 hours of no sliding, I had to give up because my ankles were hurting.

Nevertheless it was a funny experience which I will always remember.

Le Biodôme

Montreal is an amazing city, with lots of entertainment options; pubs, clubs, good restaurants, museums and old churchs. A good option to spend a couple of hours is a different kind of zoo called Biodôme. There you can find five ecosystems of the Americas. So, you can see many kinds of animals, like the penguins from the Sub-Antarctic Islands or the terrible anaconda, from the Tropical Rainforest. It's really funny and educational!

Post, traditional recipe

Mexico is a country full of history; therefore as a Mexicans, we have a lot of typical dishes, costumes and traditions, etc…
Mexican food has a lot of variety, from sweet desserts to hot and spicy meals. One of my favorite meals is enchiladas. It's a really easy dish and inexpensive. The ingredients that you need to prepare this delicious dish are: tortilla corn, crushed tomatoes, cheese, oil, salt, pepper and an onion.
And the procedure is even easier:
1.       First you fry the tortilla in the oil.
2.       Then you season the crushed tomatoes with the salt, peppers and the onion.
3.       Then you take the tortilla and soak it into the seasoned crushed tomatoes.
4.       Take the tortilla out from the tomatoes and you add cheese inside, like a burrito.
5.       Finally you put the enchilada in a dish and put some of the crushed tomatoes on the top of the enchilada, adding some lettuce if you want.

Good Friends

In my first paragraph for our new blog I wold like to talk about friends. When you are in a different country you meet lots of people but only a few are later considered friends, because not everyone can have the honor to be called that way. I think that friendship is a very important in anybody's life, because someone in which you can trust, someone to share good and not so good experiences and you need someone to hold your hand and walk beside you. In my opinion that's what friendship its all about. it doesn't matter if you are 1000000 kilometer away; what really matters even through the distance you can feel your real friend close to you and that you could be sure that that person will be always there for you like you will always be there for him.

BE ARTIST IN THE SUBWAY

Montreal is the biggest bilingual city in the world, English and French are the official languages; Montreal is world furrow also because offers many cultural options all year round like museums, festivals, carnival, etc… You can see culture all over the city, in the streets, the buildings, the churches and in the subway…. Yes, in the subway!!! In the Montreal´s subway you can appreciate amazing artists; they are very professional and have the capacity to change your mood.

Making a blog for ESL

The picture to the left is a mind map my class prepared to think about how they would create a class blog. They thought of themes, such as recipes, sports, economics and multiculturalism. By sketching freely they also began to explore the graphic qualities of a blog. Their first assignment was to choose an image, and write a paragraph about it. To put actions to words, and to help model what I want them to do, I have prepared this email as an example."-Adam

The picture above is the first challenge in the creation of our class blog. Drawing the picture was the way we found to discuss what we want to write about. And there are very different interests: sports, politics, economy, culture and music. I think it's normal, because we have so many different people in class. But the question I make now is: Will we be able to write about so many different things and make Adam be proud of us???? I hope so." -Fabiano
