Sir George-Étienne Cartier

One of the interesting things of Sir George-Étienne Cartier is know how was his life. He was born in St. Antoine on september 6, 1814.  He was an influentional person in his time, and one of leading person. He had 2 daughters and his wife Hortense. Cartier became a candidate for the Conservative Party and this marked the beginning of political career that lasted until his death. He was a lawyer and he always was interested in politics and he charted his own path to business and politics. George- Cartier always showed interested in railways and he said the economy depended of the railways, that's why he pushed this idea to develop the commerce in Montreal. Cartier was well-know at this time because he did many things such as the work toward the establishment in a church- run school system. He was one of the first persons who proposed developing the railways because some people was seeking one solution for the economic problems, and thats why Cartier and Macdonald presented their idea. Cartier participated in the expansion of Canada. He and Macdonald went to London to talk about the Northwest Territories and they got the sum of 1.5 million from the government to Canada.
Cartier died in London by an incurable disease in 1873, and then his wife and his daughters left Montreal and they moved to France. All member of this family are in Notre- Dame- des-Neiges cementery and now the house is a museum where people can go and know about his life and what he did for Montreal.

The life and work of George-Etienne Cartier

Friday, May 11, along with our teacher, we were in the old port. We visited a national historic site located in the heart of old Montreal.

By visiting this house, we learned about the life and work of George-Etienne Cartier,lawyer, businessman and politician. His father and grandfather were  merchants. He was married  and he had  two daughters Josephine and Hortense.
Cartier is one of the main architects of Canadian Confederation. In addition, he was a leading proponent of the railways.
He was also involved the development of several law to accelerate modernization. He was the instigator of several reforms.
He worked all his life to the defense of French Canada. He died in London in 1873. When he died, her wife decided to live in France.
No family ties exist betwen Georges-Etienne Cartier and  the explorer Jacques Cartier.
We loved the museum. We felt at the time with this historical reconstruction that respects the old times and trends of the time.
I think we all returned to the 19th century, live in a life time of the Cartier family

What I think about the Biodome

the Biodome is charming business to distract people, and entertain children, but a sad thing for animals. It is a purely selfish distraction, because most of the animals that were at the Biodome are wild animals, who can not live in captivity, especially the lynx.

Even if they are well cared for and treated well, it is not worth their freedom in their natural environment.
 But on the other hnad, it allows the people who never travel to discover the fauna and climates of other countries, such as that of Latin America.

The trip to the Biodome of Montréal

The trip to the Biodome of Montréal with my classmate and my teacher last Wednesday was a really exciting experience for me. The Biodome is beautiful architectural structure. It is like a zoo inside and is divided in different ecosystems of America. The ecosystems are: tropical rainforest, Laurentian maple forest, gulf of St. Lawrence, the Labrador coast and sub-antarctic islands.

When I went in the tropical rainforest I felt really happy because that weather and the animals reminded me of my country, Venezuela. Visiting the others ecosystems was interesting because I had the opportunity to meet and learn about each climate and different animals.

That place is amazing.

Visiting the Biodome

Last Wednesday, we visited the Montréal Biodome. I have already had occasion to visit this place. But it's always nice and interesting  to go there.
We saw the people of different ages.You can go to the Biodome as a couple,  with friends or with family. It's very friendly and convivial.

We liked seeing nature, animals and plant species from around the world. The exhibits at the Biodome are identical to their natural models.

We realise that we must preserve the fauna and flora. Nature is so beautiful and the world is beautiful. We must keep in memories all things.

We feel "ecologically minded" after visiting the Biodome.

I think we spent a good day.

The Biodome

Well I will talk about the travel to Biodome because I really like this day. First I started studying at Miila. When we were already to go I was excited, as I wanted to go some new place in Montreal. We walked to the metro and we had to wait for Isabella and Zineb- they took a lot of time and I was a little impatient. When we arrived at the Viau metro  we went to the exit where some local people were smoking weed. After we left the Metro we took a group picture with the Olympic stadium ( I like my class and friends).



The Biodome was expensive but Adam helped us to pay student rates so it was cool for me. When we went to the first part of the Zoo it was amazing because it was hot and very humid. It felt like the weather of Cancun, a beatiful beach in Mexico. I was impressed because Simon told me that in venezuela they eat this animal.

It was funny because Zineb   tried to call the little monkey  by making weird sounds but the monkey didn't care. I saw another monkey in the other side that was gold & orange and beautiful. If I could I would have one like this when I become old and I would train it to make coffee and play with me.

 I was looking the fishes when some of my friends said me "Carlos!Carlos! come look this" and I went and it was a anaconda. That is so amazing for me. I really love reptile animals because I have a problem. My mom hates dogs, cats and all the usual pets but she lets me have all kind of reptiles like iguanas, chameleons, and boas. Maybe that's why I love this kind of animals.

We saw crocodile, there are 3 or 4 but they didn't move and didn't do anything but their skin was cool. They are a smart animal and really old, there are one of the oldest animal in the world that still alive and I respect them for this.

The fishes are beautiful but its not my passion but I was impress about the big pool with big fishes like sharks

 And the final was amazing it was the thing that I wating all the day "the penguins" I love the small penguins there look really happy and the move a lot and play with the stream of the water. It was amazing.

And I didn't like that Zineb was annoying the penguins.

I am in favor of animal rights as well as human rights.

I am in favor of animal rights as well as human rights. That is the way of a whole human being.
Sometimes people do not understand what an animal means in the world, but they are very important because they are alive as human are. Most of the animals are in danger of extinction but humans do not understand this situation. I think maybe people could go to the zoo and learn more about animals and their lives. My classmates and I went out to the zoo yesterday and there we looked at many different kinds of animals. Some were dangerous or nice, some big or small but the principal point is we have to take care of them because they are important.

People who are interested in them can understand the meaning of the existence of all them, and is good to have knowledge about all kind of animals and their behavior.  I have never seen a penguin or many different kinds of fish but this is interesting because I like to know what is around of the world. Knowing that there are pretty animals in Canada is exciting because I am not from Canada and is amazing can meet what I can expect from an interesting and new country for me.
Montréal Biodôme is a nice place to visit because there are four ecosystems that exist in America. Many people from different countries visit Montréal Biodôme because this is an important spot for Montreal that we should visit.

In my opinion Biodôme is a beautiful place from Montreal, Canada and I really liked it.
